High Performance Building as a Building Strategy
- Registration Closed
One of the biggest high performance building hurdles to overcome is the perception that it costs too much and that the added benefits do not justify the costs. Too often builders and remodelers fall victim to the same perception and actually reinforce it by trying to defend the cost rather than emphasize the value that they have created for their buyer. Return on investment (ROI) and available incentives work to justify the cost and should be part of the discussion with customers, but only a part. It is also important to shift the conversation to the recognition of created value. This module reviews how to do just that.
By completing this module, you will be able to:
- Analyze the business potential of high performance building in the residential home market.
- Explain how the ICC/ASHRAE 700-2015 National Green Building Standard™ (NGBS) was developed.
- Explore the scope and organization of NGBS.
- Review the process for certifying building, remodeling and land development projects available through the Home Innovation NGBS Green Certification Program.
