Educating Builder
Brian Murphy’s career has been built on two foundations; discipline and craft. A former USMC scout sniper, he brings the same precision, patience and attention to detail that his service in the Marine Corps demanded—qualities that carry naturally into building work done right the first time.
A third-generation carpenter, Murphy grew up in building and has since worked across every aspect of the industry: general contractor, home builder and real estate developer. His company, Murphy Homes Design Build based in Evansville, Indiana is where he does the majority of his work and where he applies his unusually complete view of how a project from raw ground to finished home and the demands of working and motivating the skilled workforce along every step of the way.
Today, Brian gives a lot of his attention to the next generation. As owner of Educating Builder, Murphy advocates for expanded construction-based education in high schools, working to connect students to careers that offer real wages, real skills, and real ownership over their futures. He is a NAHB train-the-trainer, a craft skill professional, and an educator who teaches from job-site experience rather than theory alone.
He is currently pursing a Master of Science in Career and Technical Education and finalizing his application for NAHBs Certified Master Builder Program Designation—credentials that formalize what he has spent a carer practicing: that building people and building structures are the same discipline.
